Welcome To The Jungle

Based on the 1981 novel by author Chris Van Allsburg, Jumanji was adapted to a live-action movie in 1995. Director Joe Johnston took responsibility for bringing the popular children’s book to life, enlisting the support of a number of talented actors: David Alan Grier, Bebe Neuwirth, Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, Bonnie Hunt, Jonathan Hyde, Bradley Pierce, and others.

The plot of the film, which is set in the late ‘60s, follows the misfortunes of Judy (Dunst) and Peter Shepherd (Pierce), two siblings who live with their aunt. After moving into a mansion, they discover a game in the attic: Jumanji. They decide to play; however, they find themselves caught in an escalating cycle of madness as jungle-themed hazards — such as animals, vines, and a big-game hunter (Hyde) — start invading their new home. One of Peter’s dice rolls releases a man called Alan Parrish (Williams), who was trapped in the game more than two decades ago while playing with his friend Sarah Whittle (Hunt). Coming to the conclusion that Sarah is required to end the game, they encourage her to continue where she left off.

In 2017, the fan-favorite franchise returned to theaters with the release of Welcome To The Jungle, a movie directed by Jake Kasdan. Acting as a direct sequel to the original, the film features Jumanji in the form of a video game. A group of teenagers — Spencer Gilpin/Dr. Xander "Smolder" Bravestone (Alex Wolff/Dwanye Johnson), Anthony “Fridge” Johnson/Franklin "Mouse" Finbar (Ser'Darius Blain/Kevin Hart), Bethany Walker/Professor Sheldon "Shelly" Oberon (Madison Iseman/Jack Black), and Martha Kaply/Ruby Roundhouse (Morgan Turner/Karen Gillan) — is transported to the digital realm, where they meet Alex Vreeke/ Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough (Mason Guccione/Colin Hanks/Nick Jonas). To escape, they must complete a quest.
