The World’s Strongest Hero

First released in 2009, One Punch Man is a manga series created by ONE, a famous Japanese artist. The franchise debuted on a website owned by Shueisha Inc., Tonari No Young Jump, and has spawned more than 20 tankōbon volumes. To this day, it is recognized as one of the most successful manga of all time, having gained a global audience.

The plot focuses on Saitama, a man from City Z who dreams of being a hero. After an encounter with a monster called Crablante, he decides that he will train to be the strongest hero on Earth, adopting a routine that comprises 100 push-ups, 100 squats, 100 sit-ups, and a 10k run. Despite the agonising pain, he persists with his training and develops the ability to defeat any enemy with a single blow. However, his overwhelming power leaves him feeling unfulfilled. Eventually, he starts mentoring Genos, a revenge-seeking cyborg, and joins the Hero Association.

The Hero Association was formed by the millionaire Agoni and employs active superheroes to battle the forces of villainy. Saitama, irrespective of his superior physical abilities, is relegated to a lower rank as a result of his poor score on the entry exam. However, he soon proves his prowess during the arrival of Garo, a self-described “Hero Hunter”.

In 2015, an anime adaptation of the series was released. This TV show follows the plot of the source material, bringing the characters to life in three-dimensional animation.
