It’s A Trap

Released in 1983, Episode VI – Return Of The Jedi told the climactic story of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and his friends: Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), and R2-D2 (Kenny Baker). Richard Marquand directed the movie, bringing to life the vision of George Lucas, the creator of the franchise.

The plot picks up one year after the events of Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980). Leia disguises herself as a bounty hunter in an attempt to rescue Han, who has been frozen in carbonite since the end of the previous film. However, her plan goes awry, and she is enslaved by Jabba The Hutt, an infamous crime lord.

Luke, having become a powerful Force user during the elapsed time, visits Jabba’s palace and uses his abilities to rescue them. Once this is done, he returns to Degobah to train under Yoda (Frank Oz), but he discovers the aging Jedi Master at death’s door. As Yoda draws his last breaths, he informs Luke that there is another Skywalker: his twin, Leia. Nevertheless, her potential is not yet realized, and Luke knows that he must face Darth Vader (David Prowse/James Earl Jones) — his father — alone so as to complete his training and defeat the Galactic Empire. His objective ultimately brings him to the second Death Star and face to face with the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid).
