A Supernatural Mystery

An American drama series by Mark Frost and Divid Lynch, Twin Peaks made its debut on ABC during the early ’90s. Despite its critical acclaim, the show received only two seasons for its original run, its cancellation announced in 1991. Nevertheless, it returned for a third season (known as The Return or A Limited Event Series) in 2017.

Set in the Washington town Twin Peaks, the story focuses on a murder investigation being conducted by the FBI special agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and Sheriff Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean). Prom queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) has been murdered, and the innocent-appearing townsfolk are harbouring secrets. Over the course of the narrative, Cooper starts having strange dreams, supernatural experiences that reveal clues related to the case. To determine the identity of the killer, he must first decipher their meaning.

In 1992, a prequel movie titled Fire Walk With Me was released. Taking place before the events of the first season, the film revolves around solving the murder of Teresa Banks (Pamela Gidley), whose body is found floating down the river. The plot also recounts the final days of Laura Palmer, exploring her double life.

As a result of its poor box-office take, Fire Walk With Me never received the two sequels that were planned. However, consumer demand warranted the release of The Missing Scenes (2014), which compiled hours of deleted scenes.
