The Pioneer Of Reggae

Robert Nesta Marley was born on February 6, 1945, in Nine Mile, Jamaicia. Considered to be one of the pioneers of reggae, his musical career combined parts of reggae, ska, and rocksteady with his distinctive vocal and song-writing style.

He began his career in 1963 after forming the band Bob Marley And The Wailers with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. The band quickly achieved monumental success with the hit song "One Love/People Get Ready." You might recognize some more of the iconic songs that Bob Marley released, including “Three Little Birds,” “Could You Be Loved,” “Is This Love,” “Jamming,” “One Love,” “Sun Is Shining,” and “I Shot The Sheriff.”

Some of Bob Marley And The Wailers’ biggest albums include Exodus (1977), Catch A Fire (1973), Natty Dread (1974), Burnin’ (1973), and Soul Revolution (1971).

Due to his immense success, he was honored with a designated Order Of Merit by Jamaica in 1981. And in 1994, he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Over the years, Bob Marley accumulated a huge number of awards, such as Rolling Stones Band Of The Year in 1976, the Peace Medal Of The Third World from the United Nations in 1978, and the Album Of The Century for Exodus by Time Magazine in 1999.
